Why I Love Tetris Multiplayer

Sweat running down your face, teeth grinding together, and eyes scratchy from not blinking for minutes on end. It may sound tense, but fans of Tetris multiplayer know these as the signs of a great match!

Throughout the years, Tetris has offered countless ways to have fun. From classic modes to quirky twists and new mechanics, Tetris never gets boring! While some modes will come and go with new iterations of Tetris, there are a handful of select options that never go out of style. They're simply too good to leave behind! For me personally, I feel competitive multiplayer is the mode that tops all others in Tetris.

Keeping it Real

You never know what a real-life opponent is going to do next, which is what makes online multiplayer so exciting!

Going up against the computer in Tetris is probably the best way to get a greater understanding of Tetris as a whole. You learn mechanics and figure out how to solve problems. As time rolls on, you'll learn more advanced strategies, and come to see the kind of player you function best as. Then, when you're able to take down the computer without much of a struggle, it's time to try your luck in the real world.

Simply put, there's no better way to test your Tetris prowess than with a real-life opponent. You might think you've learned all there is to know in Tetris, then you'll come up against another player and learn how much you've missed out on! Seeing how different people approach the game can be a mind-blowing experience. By watching how they clear lines and place Tetriminos, you’ll be able to further hone your own Tetris strategy!

No Rest

Make sure to keep an eye on your opponent. They might twist Tetriminos in ways you never even considered!

In Tetris competitive multiplayer, you are never safe. You constantly have to be on your toes, ready for anything the other player throws at you. If you're always playing against a computer opponent, you'll eventually see patterns, which let you predict what they'll do next. This isn't an option with a human opponent.

Everyone is battling back fast and furiously to keep from topping out. Tetriminos are slamming down left and right, and the feeling in the room is pretty intense. Multiplayer creates an atmosphere you can't beat! Until you see your opponent topple, you have to be at the top of your game. This constant bombardment from a real-life player helps build you into a Tetris wrecking machine.

Garbage, Sweet Garbage

The sense of satisfaction you get from sending over a heaping helping of garbage to your Tetris competitors never gets old!

Playing any multiplayer video game can be a satisfying experience. After all, grabbing a victory over an opponent would make anyone smile! You put in the hard work, and you came out the victor in the end. While it's certainly a job well done, Tetris has a way of making your multiplayer victories feel so much sweeter. This is thanks, in part, to the wonderful world of Tetris garbage.

When you clear lines in Tetris multiplayer, it sends lines over to your opponent’s Matrix as garbage. This means the more lines you clear, the greater your opponent’s risk of topping out. There’s no sweeter feeling in the gaming world than performing a successful Tetris Line Clear and sending waves of garbage to your opponent.

Seeing their Matrix pile up and hearing their audible gasps makes your impending win so much better. It's the perfect mix of feeling a bit bad, but mostly feeling like a Tetris master! If you haven't experienced Tetris multiplayer, you absolutely must give it a try. It's a Tetris mode you will never tire of.

There are so many opponents and so many strategies that it’s an endless form of entertainment. You'll never play the same game twice, and every single match is sure to be an intense experience. We hope you're ready! To get you ready for your next Tetris multiplayer match, be sure to practice by playing a few rounds of Tetris online!
