How to Add Tetris Flair to Your Photography Sessions

Whether you're announcing an engagement or a baby, there's always a way to showcase your love of Tetris.

Creative photo sessions are fantastic for capturing important moments in your life. Photos help immortalize a moment and make it timeless. While browsing through Pinterest or checking out your friend’s latest photo session on Facebook, you’re bound to come across some interesting ideas.

For example, a mom who loves Harry Potter might dress up her baby in wizarding gear with a stack of the books beside him or her. For fans of video games, a proposal might include an invitation to become the person’s “Player 2.” But what about Tetris?

Even if you don’t have a big occasion coming up and are simply planning family photos, how can you go about incorporating Tetris into the mix? Well, below we put together some fun ideas that will help your photos really stand out!

Use Props

The giant Tetrimino sculptures from Triforce make the perfect props for any photo shoot!

The easiest way to add Tetris to your photo session is through the use of props. One fantastic example are the giant Tetrimino sculptures from Triforce. Due to their size, they really make an impression, and can help you spice up your background.

If you’re taking photos in an indoor setting, they can be plugged in and made to light up, adding a cool neon vibe. Best of all, when you’re done taking photos, you can take your Tetrimino sculptures home and use them to decorate areas like your kid’s bedroom!

Other prop ideas include baking Tetrimino cookies, which you can then share with your friends and family after the photo session is over, or props that make use of the area around you. For those of you taking photos during the summer, you can try building Tetris sandcastles at the beach. Then, when you gather around for a photo, you have your custom prop ready to go!

Clothing Coordination

Let’s say you want to ditch the props. Another way to add Tetris to your photos is by making use of the official Tetris colors. There are 7 Tetriminos in Tetris, each with their own unique color. If there are 7 people in your photo, you could assign each of them a Tetris color, then have them strike a Tetris pose!

Or if everyone is doing something different, and you’re the biggest Tetris fan in the family, you can always snag yourself a Tetris t-shirt. There are several available in our Tetris Shop, each with their own unique style. If Tetris t-shirts are too casual, you can always snag one of our anniversary Tetrimino pins to add a subtle touch to your formal wear.

Finally, for those of you really looking to take a wild and crazy photo, you can make Tetris cosplay. Think about it... how cool would it be if you and either your friend or family member all pieced together as Tetriminos? It not only shows off your love of Tetris, but your close bond with each another!

Special Occasions

If you’re stumped on the best way to add Tetris to your next photo session, try to focus on what the photo session is celebrating.

Finally, let’s talk a bit more about special occasions. These types of photos all have their own style which can make adding a bit of Tetris flair complicated. The trick is to think of what the occasion symbolizes, and how Tetris relates to that moment. For example, parents looking to announce a pregnancy can take a photo of 3 Tetriminos and add plus and equal signs to send the message home.

If you already know the gender of your baby, pick out a red or blue Tetrimino to represent your little one. To go all-out, you can buy a unisex onesie that reads “Player 3 Has Entered The Game” then set up Tetris props around it (like a Tetris game cartridge). When it comes to engagement photos, the aforementioned cosplay idea can be fun. After all, the two of you are symbolizing how well you pair together!

Other ideas include Tetris engravings on the inside of your rings, which can then be photographed on top of a calendar marking the date of your wedding. Or, take a photo of the two of you facing off in multiplayer Tetris. There’s no limit to what you can do! If you hire a photographer, brainstorm with him or her about some of your ideas.

Photographers are there to work with you and help you capture images you’ll treasure for a lifetime. For those of you doing things yourself, experiment! The more photos you take and the more things you try, the more likely it’ll be that you find that one perfect image. You know, the one you hang up in that expensive frame! Now that you have some ideas rattling around in your brain, be sure to head out, get creative, and show off your Tetris love with pride.
